This is a blog about the Green Bay Packers football organization. During training camp and the regular season expect daily posts of news, rumors, and opinion pieces. Over the spring and summer there will still be posts but less frequently.

Kevin Barry May Be Out For The Year

The big offensive tackle/guard suffered a tear in his quadriceps. It is too early to tell if it is season ending, but surgery should determine more. This is a pretty big injury but with the new zone-blocking system it's not as big as previous seasons.

2006 NFL Draft Diary

12:55 PM-The first trade of the day. The Denver Broncos move up to #11 and select QB Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt). They gave up the #15 pick and their high third round pick (#68 overall).

12:36 PM-The Saint Louis Rams are on the clock and I have no idea what they are going to do.

12:35 PM-The Arizona Cardinals select QB Matt Leinhart (USC).

12:34 PM-The Arizona Cardinals are on the clock. I don't see Matt Leinhart getting past Arizona.

12:32 PM-The Detroit Lions select LB Ernie Sims (Florida State).

12:27 PM-The Detroit Lions are on the clock. With Joey Harrington on the outs, could this finally be Matt Leinhart's time?

12:26 PM-The Buffalo Bills select S Donte Whitner (Ohio State).

12:15 PM-The Buffalo Bills are on the clock. This may be QB Matt Leinhart's time.

12:14 PM-The Oakland Raiders select S Michael Huff (Texas).

12:09 PM-The Oakland Raiders are on the clock. Will it be Michael Huff to replace Charles Woodson?

12:05 PM-The San Francisco 49ers select TE/WR Vernon Davis (Maryland).

12:04 PM-The San Francisco 49ers are on the clock. More than likely this will be TE/WR Vernon Davs.

12:01 PM-The Green Bay Packers select LB A.J. Hawk (Ohio State). Thank goodness. Since we couldn't get Bush or Williams, he was the best bet at this pick.

11:48 AM-Yay! The Packers are on the clock. If we can trade down a little bit, pick up a few picks and still get A.J. Hawk I'll be happy.

11:47 AM-The New York Jets select OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Virginia). Big shock! This may give the Packers more trade partners.

11:36 AM-The Jets are on the clock. Hopefully this will be QB Matt Leinhart (leaving either LB A.J. Hawk or TE/WR Vernon Davis for the Packers).

11:35 AM-The Tennessee Titans select QB Vince Young (Texas).

11:29 AM-The Titans are next up. More than likely this will be a QB (either Vince Young or Matt Leinhart).

11:27 AM-The New Orleans Saints select RB Reggie Bush (USC). Will they keep him though?

11:18 AM-The New Orleans Saints are on the clock and nobody has any clue what they are going to do. Some people have them picking Reggie Bush while others say they are entertaining trade offers from five teams. I hope Ted Thompson at least calls them up to see how much it would take to move up to #2. I really would like Reggie Bush on the Packers.

11:14 AM-The Houston Texans select DE Mario Williams (NC State).

11:11 AM-The draft is officially on and the Houston Texans will be picking DE Mario Williams. I would have liked Super Mario so I'm pretty disappointed but there are several good players still available.

10:57 AM-Check Packers Nation often as I voice my opinion on the drafting and dealing.

Feel free to comment on my opinions or the draft in general in the comments section.

Draft Roundup (Who the Experts Think We Will Pick)

So four "experts" think we will pick A.J. Hawk, two have us picking Mario Williams, and Michael Huff and D'Brickashaw Ferguson each got one vote. Do you want the Packers to pick A.J. Hawk or do you have someone else in mind? Feel free to discuss in the comments section.

Who Should the Packers Draft At #5?

The Packers have several good choices with this high pick. They could pick up a defensive stud like Mario Williams or A.J. Hawk, trade down, or pick someone unexpected (like TE/WR Vernon Davis). Here is what I think we should do (in order of preference):

1) Draft Mario Williams (if he is available)-Super Mario is a big risk but he could easily be our next Reggie White. It is a position of need as well (as least on certain downs). It is highly unlikely that we will get Williams (unless we trade up) but he has to be our best option.

2) Trade Down (if we get a good offer)-I wouldn't want to trade down too far but if we can pick up some additional picks and still stay in the top ten, I say go for it.

3) Draft A.J. Hawk-If Super Mario is gone and we can't find a good trade partner, we should pick Hawk. He looks like a stud and LB is one of our biggest positions of need. It may be a reach to pick him at #5 though.

4) Fire Ted Thompson-If Thompson does anything else with this pick (like god forbit take Vernon Davis or Vince Young) I think he should be fired. While getting Williams will be unlikely the other two options should be available. If he is stupid enough not to pick one, he should be canned.

What do you think we should do at #5? What do you think the Packers will do with their first pick? Discuss in the comments section.

Introduction

We are two of the biggest Packers fans on Earth. We watch every second of every game, our room is completely "Packerized," and we look for any rumor or piece of information on our team that we can find.

In this blog, we will post news and rumors along with many opinion pieces and maybe even a dash of general NFL discussion. This blog should be updated almost every day during training camp and the regular season and regularly throughout the rest of the year.

We welcome discussion of the Packers or the NFL in general in our comments section or on our message boards. We also have a website containing a Packers section.

We will allow knowledgeable posts from non-Packers fans. However, if you flame someone or just post out of hatred for the Green Bay Packers, your comment will be deleted.
